Introduction to Volunteering

Who is this course for?

This course is a short introduction for anyone considering working in the voluntary sector. If you already work in a voluntary organisation you may wish to further develop your existing skills.

Entry requirements

  • Aged 19+
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Reside in the DL or TS postcode area, or within commuting distance of Darlington

What is the curriculum intent of this course?

The course prepares you for a role in a voluntary organisation and it will prepare you for the Level 1 Volunteering qualification.

What will the course cover?

The course will cover;

  • exploring volunteering
  • ways to become a volunteer
  • personal standards
  • safeguarding
  • confidentiality

What could I do when I have finished this course?

You could progress onto the Level 1 Volunteering course or you may decide to complete one of our many Distance Learning or CPD courses made available to you.

Where and when will I learn?

We are currently gathering interest for this course. This course will run subject to demand. Once we have the demand we will plan a date and time for the course to begin. 

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring:

  • a notepad
  • a pen (or a digital device) to take notes
  • a file to store your work
