School Administration Apprentice

Working in a busy school office, you will support the administration team and the School Business Manager to undertake a range of clerical duties. This will involve interacting with parents, visitors and pupils, as well as supporting general office duties relevant to the role. This is a varied role including working in finance, HR and on the general reception. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a school office environment in a supportive environment.

The successful applicant will be expected to

  • Provide an efficient reprographics service to all staff within the school, ensuring that copying is of a high standard and produced in a timely manner
  • Undertake a range of reprographics activities including laminating, binding and collating
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate stocks of stationery, paper and reprographics materials
  • Undertake reception duties, acting as the first point of contact and dealing with enquiries by telephone and face to face, ensuring that they are dealt with effectively and efficiently e.g. answering routine queries, directing enquiries and taking messages where appropriate
  • Ensure that all visitors to school are received courteously, punctually and in-line with school security / safeguarding procedures
  • Undertake typing, word-processing and data input as required to support the School Administration Team and Trust Central Services Team
  • Assist with the maintenance and update of manual and computerised records / management information systems as required to support the School Administration Team and Trust Central Services Team
  • Provide routine administrative support duties including data input, filing, the completion of forms and mail shots
  • Assist with school uniform sales including recording / co-ordinating orders received from the supplier
  • Receive and make room bookings / mini bus bookings
  • Participate in relevant school activities and processes including performance management, attendance at staff meetings, involvement in CPD sessions and school functions as required
  • Respect confidential issues linked to home / pupil / teacher / school work and to keep confidences as appropriate
  • Provide assistance to other members of staff as required
  • Receive money from pupils, parents and other parties and issue receipts as necessary
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils to include adhering to all specified procedures and school policies
  • Undertake any other relevant duties commensurate with the grading of the post which may be required by senior staff
  • Support and promote the ethos and wider life of the school and to make a contribution to this shared responsibility
  • Take reasonable care of one’s own health and safety and that of others and informing relevant staff of any concerns with regard to health and safety
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the school and Trust and ensure one’s individual performance and actions comply with these
  • Be informed about the financial basis of the operation of the school and to assist in seeking ways of deploying and maintaining resources to the maximum benefit of the pupils
  • Supervise the use and care of the school fabric and equipment by the pupils and to ensure their adherence to relevant health and safety regulations

Training will be provided

  • Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship
  • Functional skills in maths, English and ICT (as required)
  • Safeguarding Children
  • Any other training specified by your employer

Moorlands is a family run business offering a full range of services for older people in Darlington and the surrounding area. As well as a nineteen bed care home we provide day care services, a full range of domiciliary services, an old fashioned meals on wheels service and a laundry service.

The vacancy will require the successful applicant to carry out the following

  • To assist the daily routine of the care home
  • To assist residents in all aspects of their personal care
  • To assist in activities
  • To maintain good levels of housekeeping
  • To maintain good levels of hygiene
  • To assist residents with their mobility needs
  • To work as part of a team
  • To assist residents during mealtimes, this may include serving meals or supporting the individual to eat and drink
  • To record information into appropriate documents
  • To maintain confidentiality

Training will be provided to achieve the following qualifications
