Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for all parents with children of any age, who would like to explore ways to support their child’s English at home.
What entry requirements do I need to start the course?
There are no entry requirements for this course, only the enthusiasm to learn in a relaxed, friendly environment.
What is the curriculum intent of this course?
The structure and delivery of the course’s curriculum will enable you to develop your awareness of the way children’s language and literacy skills develop, the way English is taught in schools and how you can support your children’s learning. It will also encourage your own progression to further learning such as Functional Skills English.
What will the course cover?
Each week we will focus on a different aspect of English including reading, writing, speaking and listening. We discuss the topic, examine its importance and explore how to support your child’s English in simple, fun ways. You will have the opportunity to trial games, look at commercial resources (books, games, toys, apps, CDs) and to make your own learning resources to take home.
What could I do when I have finished this course?
After this course has finished you may like to join in with other Family Learning courses or adult learning courses, including Functional Skills English, Maths or ICT. You will be given information about other courses and guidance on to progress during this course.
