Supporting Your Child's Learning
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at parents or a child’s primary carer who already have the underpinning knowledge and understanding of how to support children at school. This course is the progression from the Supporting Your Child’s Learning Entry Level 3 course. This is a Level 1 accredited qualification.
What entry requirements do I need to start the course?
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but showing a basic understanding of how to support your child at school is a must.
What is the curriculum intent of this course?
The curriculum intent of this course is to provide a deeper understanding of how parents or carers can support their child’s learning outside the classroom environment. You will gain knowledge on supporting children's learning to complement school teaching.
What will the course cover?
This course will cover the knowledge and practical skills required to support children's development outside the classroom and allow you to gain an understanding of the way that children are taught within schools. This includes: Understanding the importance of your child’s learning, understanding your own role as a parent in your child’s learning and supporting your child’s literacy and numeracy development out of school.
What could I do when I have finished this course?
After this course has finished you may like to join in with other Family Learning courses or adult learning courses, including Functional Skills English, Maths or ICT. You will be given information about other courses and guidance on to progress during this course.
