Digital Skills in Employment

Who is this course for?

This qualification is suitable for all members of the public, aged 19+ who are either in employment or searching for employment, particularly those who wish to develop their digital skills in relation to the management of information and digital safety, security and communication. It will also be beneficial for anyone with a basic understanding of IT skills who is searching for career progression, or wishing to improve their digital skills for their own personal use.

What entry requirements do I need to start the course?

The course is completed by distance learning, there is no need to attend any online or physical classes. Resources for the course will be available on our online learning platform. As this is a level 2 course it is recommended that you have a standard of English and Maths that is Functional Skills Level 1 as a minimum.

What is the curriculum intent of this course?

This course intent aims to equip you with an awareness of finding and managing relevant, good quality information, and considering the importance of online identities. It will also look at the importance of digital skills in the workplace, considering how to communicate effectively using technology and how to protect data and devices, among other organisational policies and procedures.

What will the course cover?

The course will cover five sections

  • Developing Digital Career Skills
  • Management of Information
  • Digital Device Safety Awareness
  • Communication and Productivity
  • Digital Security

What could I do when I have finished this course?

You could progress onto one of our many other courses, depending on your pathway of choice: upskill your functional skills with our Maths, English or further Level 2 ICT courses or you may decide to complete any of the Level 2 Distance Learning or CPD courses that will be made available to you to support your pathway within or to employment.

Where and when will I learn?

This course will take place online via our online portal. You will learn from home in your own time. You will receive your login details during enrolment.

What should I bring with me?

It is essential that you have an internet enabled device and access to the internet. In exceptional circumstances we can offer this course offline via paper resource packs. This will be discussed during your enrolment.
