Special Educational Needs in the Early Years Foundation Stage
Maintained schools, maintained nursery schools and all providers who are funded by the local authority to deliver early education places must have arrangements in place to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and must have regard to the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a framework that sets the standards that all early years providers of childcare and education must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. Providers include schools, nursery schools, private nurseries, preschools, childminders, after school clubs and holiday clubs that are registered with Ofsted. The EYFS provides the framework for children to be supported with the broad range of knowledge and skills that offers the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.
