Red Hall and Lingfield Ward By-Election - Thursday, 11 December 2025

Following the resignation of Councillor Dr. Amanda Riley and the publication of a notice of vacancy [pdf] in the office of councillor for the Red Hall and Lingfield Ward, a request to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy was received by the returning officer, from two local government electors within the local authority area. A by-election will therefore be held on Thursday, 11 December 2025. 

Nomination packs for candidates are now available from democratic services at the town hall. If you wish to collect a nomination pack, please contact the elections team ( [email protected] ) to make an appointment for collection. Alternatively, nomination forms can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission's website. 

Completed nomination forms must be delivered by hand to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Feethams, Darlington, DL1 5QT no later than 4.00 pm on Friday, 14 November 2025. Please contact the elections team ( [email protected] ) to make an appointment to hand in nomination forms.
