The Government has announced that it will provide funding for local authorities to support local businesses adversely affected by the Covid-19 restrictions. Support will be in the form of grants to individual businesses.
To all potential applicants, please can you ensure you read all of the guidance notes for the individual schemes before applying to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.
The business support schemes are as follows:

Local Restrictions Support Grant (Tier 4)
Tier 4 – Payment Cycle 2 – 16 February 2021 to 31 March 2021.
Grants for those businesses required to close, or substantially close, by the imposition of the Tier 4 restrictions from 31 December 2020, and subsequently the National Lockdown from 5 January 2021.
Restart Grant – running from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2021
The Restart Grant Scheme will support non-essential retail business premises, to help them reopen safely.
Grants are also available for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business premises, which may open later under plans set out in the Government’s roadmap and will be more impacted by restrictions when they do reopen.
Whilst the awarding of grants will largely be at the Council’s discretion, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has set down criteria which must be met by each business making an application.
When appraising applications, the Council reserves the right to request any supplementary information from businesses, and they should look to provide this, where requested, as soon as possible.
When appraising individual applications, we will carry out post-payment assurance checks to confirm the information you provide. We will be undertaking anti-fraud checks on all applications (as required by the Government). If your application fails this check, this will delay or reject your payment.
The Council reserves the right to vary the terms of the scheme at any time should it be necessary to do so.
