The new way to access accommodation in Darlington

Tees Valley Homefinder is now live!

Tees Valley Homefinder is the new and improved way to find a home in Darlington. It has been implemented alongside a new Common Allocation Policy.
 

If you would like to apply for social housing in Darlington please register an account on the Tees Valley Homefinder website[external link].  You can also upload all your required supporting documents, such as proof of your identity, via the Supporting Information section of your account.

If you are:

  • homeless
  • threatened with homelessness
  • experiencing domestic abuse

Please contact the local authority where you currently live. They will provide you with advice and support.

Tees Valley Homefinder covers the following Local Authority areas:

  • Darlington Borough Council
  • Stockton Borough Council
  • Hartlepool Borough Council
  • Middlesbrough Borough Council
  • Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council

Once registered, you can apply for properties in any of these areas.

When searching for a property you can use the filters to help you find focus your search.

Use the area search to look for:

  • a street
  • a region
  • a town

Use and the drop down to set the desired distance from this location.

The search filters are on the left of your screen on a computer or laptop.

On a smart phone, filters are in the top right corner.

You will also see adverts from other non-partner housing associations.

Non-partner associations advertise 50% of their vacancies through the platform.

As soon as you have added your core information to your account.

You do not need to wait for us to access your band.

Complete the supporting information section as soon as possible.

This lets us assess your priority and confirm your band.

We updated the Common Allocation policy when we went live on Tees Valley Homefinder.

This makes sure we are meeting our obligations to help potentially homeless customers.

If your band changed, then everyone else in a similar position to you also changed bands.

You still have the same priority relative to everyone else on the housing register. View the policy.

They will process and assess any applications from their own tenants.

If you are a tenant with Thirteen you should have a My Thirteen account already.

You can use the same login to access both platforms.

When you access Tees Valley Homefinder [external link] for the first time:

  • Go to create account.
  • Enter the email address you use on My Thirteen.

The system will recognise your address and ask you to accept our terms and conditions.

You can then login using your existing password.

If you are a tenant of:

please contact your landlord about any problems with your account.

For any other customers, please contact Darlington Borough Council:

Extra accounts mean it takes longer for us to rectify the problem.

We use the answers you have given on your Homefinder profile to determine:

  • What extra information we need from you.
  • What extra information we need from other professionals you are working with.

We may contact you to ask you to provide more information or ask you a few more questions.

We will usually contact you by phone or email.

You can check your current band by looking on your profile and going to your application summary.

Your band is displayed, as well as the date your band was confirmed.
