Local Councillors: NORTH ROAD

North Riverside is a popular estate located around 1mile from the Town Centre with great links to Town and beyond. The estate is also a short walk from North Road train station.

At the heart of North Riverside are two community centres, The Havelock Centre and Richard Court, where the local community regularly come together for events such as seasonal events and charity days as well as a safe community hub.

A large proportion of our properties at North Riverside are part of our Good Neighbour Scheme which focuses on a person’s independence. Tenants will have the freedom to carry out day to day activities with the advantage of having a Scheme Manager on hand in times of need.

The majority of properties within North Riverside are one bedroom flats with different alternatives available such as bungalows, maisonettes and 3 bedroom properties.

North Riverside is also a stone’s throw from Northwood Primary School and within a mile of secondary school Longfield Academy.

Havelock Centre and Richard Court

Havelock Street and Richard Court are two good neighbour schemes that are in close proximity to each other. Both community centres have the same scheme manager and are open to all tenants for their enjoyment.

Our schemes have a keen focus on community living with a warm and welcoming feel. The varied activities can help you maintain a healthy and independent life. All 55+ housing also comes with the Lifeline service giving you extra peace of mind. For more information please click on the link : 55+ Housing. [external link]

Head of Steam redevelopment

The Head of Steam at Darlington Railway Museum is undergoing major redevelopment in 2024 with essential improvements being carried out at the site. Work has officially started on the construction of a major visitor destination which will be at the heart of the Bicentennial Anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in 2025.

Plans for the site include a café, shop, theme play area, show field, new live engineering building as well as a new immersive ride experience.

The project is being supported by £20million of funding from the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority.

 Fun Fact

The Head of Steam museum located a short walk from North Riverside currently has five locomotives on display. Two are owned by the Museum, while three are on long term loan from the National Railway Museum. They are Locomotion No 1, No 25 Derwent, No 1463, No 901 and No D6898
