Community Clean Up in Middleton St George

Housing Officer Sophie and Tenant Involvement Officer Sara joined pupils from Middleton St George School for a community litter pick last week.

The children were enthusiastic, engaged, and passionate about keeping their local area clean. It was fantastic to see how committed they are to looking after their environment and taking pride in their community.

A huge well done to all the young environmental champions who took part.

Successful Clean Up Completed at Rise Carr

A community clean up took place in Rise Carr last month, organised by Darlington Borough Council’s Housing Services to help keep the area clean, safe and free from fly‑tipping.

The team ensured all targeted areas were cleared, removing bulky waste and tidying shared spaces to improve the appearance and safety of the neighbourhood. Their efforts helped prevent potential fly‑tipping and contributed to maintaining a welcoming environment for everyone living in Rise Carr.

Housing Services remain committed to supporting local communities and will continue working alongside residents to encourage future involvement in keeping neighbourhoods clean and well cared for.

Tenant Involvement Team Attend Volunteers Fair at The Dolphin Centre

The Tenant Involvement Team attended the Volunteers Fair at The Dolphin Centre today, where they met with a variety of organisations currently seeking volunteers. The event provided a great opportunity to learn more about the roles available across Darlington and how tenants can get involved in supporting their local community.

The team made valuable connections and gathered information that will be shared with tenants who may be interested in volunteering. Housing Services remain committed to helping residents access meaningful opportunities that build skills, confidence, and community engagement.

Supporting a Tenant at Rosemary Court

The Housing Team recently supported a resident at Rosemary Court to ensure he could move safely into a more suitable home. Ray had been experiencing mobility issues in his upper floor flat and was delighted to be offered a ground‑floor property that better met his needs.

On moving day, Scheme Manager Liz discovered the lift was out of order, creating an unexpected challenge. Thanks to the swift help of Riders and the Making Space care team, Ray was successfully moved down three flights of stairs and settled into his new home within an hour.

Liz said: “Everything was a bit hectic as the lift was out of order, but what is important for a resident is important to us.”

Ray added: “I am very pleased with my new surroundings and grateful for the effort all the staff have made to do this safely.”

This move reflects the dedication of the Housing Team and partners in making sure tenants feel supported, safe and valued.
