How to Book

Multi-Agency Delegates

  • Multi-Agency delegates wanting to attend any of the training sessions listed should email the WFD Team (email address at the bottom of the page) to book their place unless otherwise specified.

  • Please note that you must discuss & agree with your Line Manager before applying to attend any of the courses listed in the directory.
  • Joining instructions are sent out via email approximately 2 weeks before each event date. If you have not received your copy a week before the training date then please contact the WFD Team (email address at the bottom of the page).
  • Details of how to apply for external or accredited courses are detailed on the intranet. To view, visit the intranet home page & search for ‘Workforce Development’.

Webinars

  • DBC staff should register themselves on the session & inform the WFD Team once completed so their individual training record can be updated.

Cancellation Policy

  • Please advise the WFD Team (email address at the bottom of the page) as soon as possible if you are unable to attend so your place can be reallocated.
  • If a delegate is unable to attend the course on the actual day of the course due to sickness or an emergency situation, they should contact their Line Manager as soon as possible & ask that they pass that information onto the WFD Team immediately or they should contact the WFD Team directly by emailing (email address at the bottom of the page) or ringing on 01325 406388.
  • Delegates who do not arrive on the day & have not cancelled their place will be contacted after the course to ask for a reason for their non-attendance.

Late Arrivals

  • To ensure that all candidates receive the maximum benefit from the learning opportunity, we ask that candidates arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the course.
  • If the candidate is unable to make the start time, they should contact the WFD Team (email address at the bottom of the page) who will check that the facilitator is willing to accept the candidate onto the course.
  • If a delegate arrives late on the day they may not be allowed to stay. This decision is made at the trainer’s discretion.

Leaving Early

  • If the candidate is unable to stay for the full duration of the training, they should contact the WFD Team (email address at the bottom of the page) who will check with the facilitator that it is acceptable for the candidate to leave early.

Charging Policy

  • Most of the training in this directory is currently provided free of charge but consideration is being given to implementing a charging / non-attendance policy.

Human Resources Training

  • Additional training (e.g. First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Recruitment & Selection) is available through HR & is open to DBC staff only. Further details are available on the intranet. Knowledge & Skills Statement (KSS)

  • The KSS sets out what is expected of qualified social workers in specific work & practice contexts. Together, they provide the basis for social work education & practice in England at qualifying & post qualifying levels. They are used to inform recruitment, workforce development, performance appraisal & career progression.
