Exhibition of works from Darlington Borough Art Collection
Darlington Borough Art Collection
Runs from: Saturday 07 February 2026 to Thursday 26 February 2026
We are delighted to share some of the artworks in Darlington’s public collection that capture their artist’s responses to parts of the town and its surroundings, or to towns and locations further afield. The public collections have grown over time and contain original artwork in many different media. This exhibition shares drawings in pen and ink, oil paintings, work in pastel, work in marquetry using wood, photography, textile art, and watercolour painting.
Some of the activity and technology pictured in these works will have been replaced by new practice and some of the buildings pictured in these artworks no longer exist, including the Cooling Towers, but while many things have changed including fashion, some depict buildings and parks which are used by Darlington residents and visitors today. Darlington Borough Council thanks those who have donated or loaned works to Darlington Borough Art Collection. We hope that you find something of interest to you within this exhibition and thank the artists for creating these works.
There are 500+ works in Darlington Borough Art Collection and many, many more in public collections across the United Kingdom.
