Health and Fitness Classes in the Pool

Aqua Aerobics 

A workout to music whilst in the pool, performing various moves and exercises to get your heart pumping.

Supervised Swim

Our supervised swim session is a great way to build fitness and meet new people.

Aqua Natal 

A midwife led session giving you a range of water based exercises that are suitable during pregnancy.


Swimfit is a fun, cross training workout in the pool. Instructors lead you through your workout so you get the most out of your session. Supported by the water, you mix swimming, running and strengthening exercises in the pool to get a full body workout.


This is a high intensity energy blast in the water. Class length is 45 mins (30 mins workout with 15 mins add on session to the end of the workout that will target a certain body area e.g. abs). The session incorporates equipment including mitts, dumbbells, leg weights and woggles

Aqua Circuits

Water based circuits class with different stations around the pool for different water based exercises. Class length is 60 mins in length. The session incorporates equipment including mitts, dumbbells, leg weights and woggles

Swim Tag

Swing Tag is a wristband that you can wear in the pool that will track your personal swim, including lengths, stroke rate, calories burned and more.

These details are automatically uploaded to the Swimtag website where you can see your progress in the pool 'See Your Swim' – your progress in the pool, new personal bests plus you can access a range of fantastic resources including:

  • Challenges – challenge yourself and others... can you swim around the Isle of Wight?
  • Competitions - join the virtual league and find the competitor in you
  • Training Plans – follow a structured training plan to help you get results in the pool

Each time you come for a swim and wear a wristband the details will be instantly uploaded.
If you want to try Swimtag, ask for a wristband at reception when you show your membership card, and visit the Swimtag website [external link] to create an account.

Adult Lane Swimming Session

The whole of the 25 metre pool is divided into lanes, to enable swimming in peace and quiet without distraction.

Fin's Splash Time - Under 5's

Fun in our training pool with our qualified staff (Level 2 Swim Instructor). Plus you can tie in a half price visit to Under the Sea (Soft Play Area) to complete your morning. Parents/guardians must get into the pool with their child.

Mondays: 10.15am - 11am
Thursdays: 10.15am - 11am

Monthly Animated Fin's Splash Time (last week of every month)

Swim4Life Lessons

The Dolphin Centre Swim4Life Scheme is based upon a framework known as the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
The NPTS has been produced by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), the UK’s National Governing Body for all Aquatic Disciplines. We offer swimming lessons for children and adults. For full details on our lessons visit our Swimming Lessons page.

Darlington Masters

For adult swimmers (18 years and over) who wish to improve their fitness and stroke technique.

Darlington Amateur Swimming Club (DASC)

The main focus of the swimming section of DASC is to encourage competitive swimming. The club mostly caters for children and young people, but may have limited spaces available for older experienced swimmers.
