Future Developments
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Full Council approved the next phase of mechanical and electrical upgrades in the Dolphin Centre for plant dating back to 1982. Approval was also given for the installation of indoor golf to compliment DC Bowl plus a modern spinning studio adjacent to our existing fitness studio which will be refurbished and modernised.
Areas of the building will be affected to accommodate the mechanical and electrical works. The centre will remain open throughout, and we will be discussing any temporary arrangements and movements with clubs effected now approval has been given. These customers have already been contacted to discuss options.
This represents some very positive investment in the centre for customers and partners to enjoy for many years to come.
Progress updates
- Saturday 6th December 2025 – The fitness studio will close after the Saturday classes, and all classes will be moved to Central Hall. This will allow the studio refurbishment work and the install of the new spinning studio in the area adjacent to start.
- Thursday 1st January 2026 – The meeting spaces will be closed and remain closed to allow the installation of our 9-hole golf course, interactive darts and tech shuffleboard.
- Wednesday 4th February 2026 – fitness class customers will be required to enter and exit the building via our Bull Wynd entrance to access Central Hall for classes.
- Wednesday 4th February 2026 - The Bistro will close, during the works catering will still be available as usual in the soft play, bowling and 16 Horsemarket café.
- We will be opening our temporary pop-up café on the ground floor to the left as you walk into the building, opening date to be confirmed and is likely mid Feb. We will keep customers updated, if customers would like regular updates throughout the projects they can complete this google form
- The female change will be closed from 4th Feb for approx. 2 -3 weeks to accommodate the building works. Bowling customers are required to use this route as access to the bowling alley and as a fire exit from the alley whilst temporary corridors are being built from the closed Bistro through to the bowling alley. Locker access will still be available along with changing facilities and showers in the changing village on the ground floor.
Although we don’t have finalised completion dates yet, we expect fitness areas to be completed late spring and catering and golf areas early summer. We appreciate there is some disruption during this time and thank customers for their patience and support, we look forward to sharing our brand-new facilities for everyone to enjoy.
