Call for sites
A call for sites is an opportunity for residents, developers, agents and other stakeholders to suggest sites that may be suitable for development.
This is a standard part of plan making. Sites submitted will be assessed using a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment. They will be considered for allocation through the Local Plan review process.
Sites submitted can be proposed for a range of uses including:
- new homes
- employment
- commercial development
- retail
- community infrastructure
- leisure
- cultural uses
The Council undertook a call for sites from 13 March to 8 May 2025.
We received approximately 70 site submissions, which will be assessed in the HELAA and Local Plan Review.
The DBC Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA) Methodology [pdf document] provides further detail on the call for sites and the HELAA assessment.
