Assistant Director, Law and Governance

I am the Council’s Monitoring Officer which means I am the statutory officer responsible for the governance of the authority. I have a legal duty to ensure the Council fulfils its statutory obligations and applies its codes of conduct.

As an Assistant Director, I have oversight of the following service areas: Legal, Procurement, Democratic, Elections, the Register Office, the PA Network, Information Governance and Complaints.

Most of my teams (with some exceptions, such as the Registrars) are support services providing back-office functions i.e. not public facing, but are key to keeping the authority running smoothly. These teams provide support across the entire Council to both Officers and Members.
