Come and celebrate the culmination of the S&DR200 festival at Hopetown Darlington on 27th September 2025.

The replica Locomotion No.1 will be returning to the birthplace of passenger railways to re-enact that famous journey from 200 years ago across Skerne Bridge.

John Street Car Park* will be transformed into the perfect celebratory viewing area for spectators to watch this spectacular event.

Entry is from 10am and is for ticket holders only, and we advise being in position by 11.30am for the viewing of Locomotion No. 1 crossing the Skerne Bridge.

*alternative parking arrangements are being made. Further details will be revealed soon.

The replica will be passing over the bridge a number of times between 12-1:20pm (approx).


For those who missed out on tickets for the viewing area, a special live screening will be available in the market square in Darlington Town Centre. No tickets are required for the live screening.

Timings for Darlington market place:

  • 11am - Rock Choir
  • 12pm - Live broadcast
  • 12:30pm - Hurworth Band
  • 2pm - The Daisy Belles
  • 3:30pm - That 80s Band
  • From 12pm - Lino print crafts & face painting

There'll also be a small train for £1 per ride per person.
