Darlington Community Safety Partnership Plan

Introduction to the Community Safety Partnership Plan video transcript [txt file]

Residents and businesses across the borough are being urged to have their say on a proposed Darlington Community Safety Partnership Plan 2021-26.

Darlington Community Safety Partnership brings together a range of partners including the council, Police, health, probation, Police and Crime Commissioner, charitable and voluntary organisations and fire and rescue services, to help make Darlington a safe place in which to live and work.

A key requirement of the partnership is to produce a Community Safety Plan which sets out key crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour risks to our local communities and priorities moving forward.

The new plan covers the five-year period 2021-26 and has identified four key priorities

  • protecting and supporting people, especially those most at risk
  • promoting safer places to create a safe, secure and vibrant town
  • tackling violent crime, including domestic abuse
  • building strong and cohesive communities

It will help develop and organise the partnership’s activities and projects to meet the needs of the public, ensuring we get the right resources in the right places at the right time to sustain reductions in crime and disorder.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Green, of Durham Constabulary and chair of Darlington Community Safety Partnership (CSP), said:

“The Community Safety Plan for 2021-26 has been produced during a period of considerable change and uncertainty due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“However, despite such challenging times the partnership remains committed to providing an environment where people treat each other fairly and with respect, and where they are safe from harm or the effects of crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.

“The plan has been developed following a period of consultation and sets out our aims and objectives for the medium to long-term, as well as highlighting some of the many achievements of the partnership.

“It is an ambitious plan, but I’m confident we can deliver to help ensure Darlington becomes an even safer place to visit, work and live and we now want to hear your views before a final plan is adopted.”
