Darlington Civic Theatre Refurbishment and Hullaballoon Consultation

Darlington residents and businesses are invited to have their say on the proposed refurbishment of the Civic Theatre and the refurbishment of the old fire station and residential property to create The Hullaballoon.

Darlington Borough Council has received initial support* from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to restore Darlington Civic Theatre and Theatre Hullabaloo has also received initial support from The Arts Council to convert the old fire station and residential property to a theatre for children and young people.

A Drop in session will take place in the Reception area of the Dolphin Centre on Wednesday 13 January 2016 between 1.00pm and 7.00pm. Plans will be on show at the event and the designers will be on hand to answer any questions.

Comments need to be received by 15 January 2016 and will be considered by the designers as they finalise the scheme. Finalised plans will be submitted to the Council, as Local Planning Authority for consideration on 20 January 2016.

Please send any comments to: [email protected] or alternatively you can comment by post at the following address: Head of Capital Projects and Design, Town Hall, Darlington, DL1 5QT.

*A first-round pass means the project meets HLF criteria for funding and HLF believes the project has potential to produce high-quality benefits and value for Lottery money. The application was in competition with other supportable projects, so a first-round pass is an endorsement of outline proposals. Having been awarded a first-round pass, the project now has up to two years to submit fully developed proposals to compete for a firm award.

On occasion, an applicant with a first-round pass will also be awarded development funding towards the development of their scheme.
