Annual Canvass 2015/16

Annual Canvass 2015/16

Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have an obligation to conduct an Annual Canvass of households every year, to confirm the existing information on the Electoral Register, to find out names and addresses of people entitled to be, but who are not, registered, and to ascertain those electors who are not entitled to be registered.

To conduct the Annual Canvass, the Electoral Registration Officer will be sending Household Enquiry Forms (HEF) to every household in the Borough. Where details currently appear on the Electoral Register, these will be pre-printed on the HEF, however where no eligible electors are registered a blank HEF will be delivered to the property. Residents will then be required to complete the form to reflect either:

  • no change;
  • the removal of one or more electors;
  • provide information about one or more eligible residents not yet registered;
  • a change of name.

As an alternative to completing the HEF, residents can confirm the details on the HEF by telephone (0800 197 9871), by text (80212) or online at Residents will need the security codes printed on the HEF to do this.

Changes to the details outlined on the HEF can also be done online at, or by telephone (01325 406444).
