Road repairs: Grange Road and A167 Victoria Road (eastbound)
Structural and surface repairs are being carried out to Grange Road and the A167 Victoria Road (eastbound). Work is already under way and efforts have been made to allow drivers as much use of the roads as possible. However, for the final resurfacing phases, the following closures will be take place between this weekend and the end of the month:
- Sunday 21 and Monday 22 July – Grange Road will be closed to vehicles from Victoria Road to the junction with Coniscliffe Road and Blackwellgate. The one way system on Northumberland Street will be removed at this time, with access via West Street, under two-way temporary traffic lights. In addition, the restricted lane on Coniscliffe Road will be open to all vehicles for two days to allow access to Houndgate.
- Tuesday 23 July – Northumberland Street will be open as usual, but a section of Grange Road (from Victoria Road up to the junction with Northumberland Street) will be closed to complete the remaining surfacing works.
- Monday 22 to Sunday 28 July – There will be patching works at the A167 Victoria Road (eastbound) before the resurfacing can take place. This will be done with lane closures, so traffic will still be able to use Victoria Road, however it is likely there will be delays. South Arden Street will be closed, to prevent traffic entering Victoria Road.
- Monday 29 to Wednesday 31 July – The A167 Victoria Road (eastbound) will be closed overnight for the final resurfacing works. The road will be closed from 8pm until 5.30am on Monday and Tuesday nights. A diversion route will be signed for traffic and pedestrians.
