Coronavirus: Leader thanks businesses for help during pandemic

Heather Scott, the Leader of Darlington Borough Council, has written to local businesses thanking them for helping some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses across the town have provided food and other vital supplies to the council-run Community Support HUB, which has distributed them to those most in need.

Councillor Scott’s letter expresses the council’s appreciation for the businesses’ contribution and the hard work and community spirit of their staff.

Councillor Heather Scott, leader of Darlington Borough Council said: “The support and generosity of local businesses and their staff has been critical in ensuring that we can meet the essential needs of the most vulnerable people in the borough and I wanted to expresses my gratitude, I know I speak for everyone in Darlington when I say thank you.

“I also want to praise the staff who are working in the HUB – many of whom have moved from other jobs in the council and are working really hard to make a real difference to people’s lives.”

The Community Support HUB was set up in response to the Coronavirus crisis. It provides an essential service to people who do not have friends, family or neighbours to help with shopping and other essentials.
