A heartfelt thank you
The country is now in its ninth week of lockdown, and the Leader of the Council has a special message of thanks to Darlington residents for their resolution throughout the pandemic.
Councillor Heather Scott, Leader of Darlington Borough Council said “I want to take this opportunity to personally thank Darlington residents for being so patient and selfless while sticking to the Coronavirus government guidelines. I know this is a difficult time for everyone, but it has been heartening to see the creative ways we have kept in touch with each other.
“It’s been incredible to see the number of people who have volunteered their time to ensure residents who are shielding can stay in their homes. People have delivered food, offered befriending calls and walked dogs, showing great kindness.
“Our ingenious residents have been finding plenty of creative ways to cope with social isolation. I’ve seen them continue to virtually enjoy our culture and leisure offer, fill their windows with rainbows, leave thank you notes, hopscotch lines and pictures for our bin men and send in beautiful images from their socially distanced walks.
“Many of our fantastic businesses have found new ways of working so that they can deliver their products to residents, showing ingenious Darlington spirit!
“It’s vital that we continue to keep up the good work while the risk is still high, in the knowledge that we will see each other again soon. Once again, thank you.”
