Key coronavirus safety messages installed around town centre

Key public health messages reminding visitors to Darlington town centre how they can play their part in helping to keep the town on track in the fight against coronavirus have been installed in busy locations.

Councillor Kevin Nicholson, cabinet member for health and housing, was joined by leader of the council, Councillor Heather Scott, in Skinnergate to view one of the new installations and to encourage residents to keep up to date with the restrictions, and continue to follow them.

Councillor Nicholson said: “We’re continuing to see a rise in infections around the town and it’s so important that we don’t let our focus slip – we all need to work together to protect the vulnerable and hopefully prevent us being forced into even tougher tier 3 restrictions.

"These graphics around the town centre, and beyond, will serve as reminders to people not to become complacent while they're out and about.

“Not everyone has access to social media and the internet – we’re working as hard as possible to ensure the key messages about keeping yourself safe and the restrictions in place are shared as widely as possible.”

The council is keen to work with community groups to continue to get the messages around coronavirus restrictions and the key safety actions out to as wide a range of people as possible.
