2022.05.26 Recall: Plastimo - inflatable lifejackets

The following notice appears on the Decathlon website.

Dear customers,

We must inform you regarding this important safety warning, which concerns ONLY PLASTIMO lifejackets equipped with Hammar Hydrostatic Inflator MA1 assembled with ISI CO2 cylinder including rearming Kits. Despite rigorous quality control procedures, PLASTIMO has noticed a number of lifejackets which does not meet our company safety performance requirements nor the ISO 12402 standards: an inflation time above five seconds time as required by the ISO std. The risk is a slow deployment of the vest, which can lead to a risk of drowning.

If you purchased the following products from 1 September, 2021 to April 2022. inclusive, you are affected by this verification campaign.

Model code: 8290714 / 8571488

All customers must have to stop using them. These must be returned for inspection where free appropriate replacement of the Hammar MA1 inflator and gas cylinder will be done by Plastimo or approved service station.

DO NOT USE YOUR LIFEJACKET

Three options to identify the date of lifejackets may concerned:
1. See date on your purchase receipt (from 1 September, 2021 to April 2022)
2. See manufacturing date located inside the lifejacket cover (August =08: 2021 until 01/2022)
3. See manufacturing date indicated on the packaging (August =08: 2021 until 01/2022)

Lifejackets bought before September 2021 or after April 2022 or with other inflators systems are NOT affected by this product recall.
