Get baking for the Coronation!

Entries are open for the Darlington Coronation Bake Off!

Whether you are an amateur or a professional, it's time to show off your skills and bake for thousands of visitors to the town centre to see on Coronation Day.

Professional cooks and bakers from local businesses will be picking the winning cakes in the following categories:

• Professionals– for those who have a business selling cakes

• Adult 18yrs +

• 13-17 years

• 8-12 years (cupcakes)

• Under 8 years (cupcakes)

There will be a first, second and third prize in each category.

To take part you need to fill in and return the entry form before Thursday 27 April

Entries must be brought with the £2 entry fee to the marquee in the Market Square on Friday 5 May between 10am and 6pm for judging.  All proceeds will be donated to a Ukraine charity.

The competition is just one part of the Coronation celebrations - a big screen in the Market Place will live stream the ceremony from Westminster on Saturday 6 May and the star-studded Coronation Concert on Sunday 7 May.

There will be a host of live entertainment on the big stage in the Market Place to get you in the party mood with performances from, amongst others, Britain’s Got Talent stars Soldiers of Swing and Discography.

Families will be able to join in free, sustainable craft activities in the marquee including decorating crowns, printing and flower making.
