Big machinery set to take over town centre
18 May 2023

Can you dig it? Get ready for big wheels and lots of fun as Darlington town centre is taken over by some seriously big machines this half term.

A new event for 2023, Tractor and Digger Day is sponsored by agricultural and construction machinery experts Lloyd Ltd, which has a branch at Bishop Auckland.

The company will provide New Holland tractors in the Market Square, construction machinery by Joseph Pease and smaller machinery in Blackwellgate, close to Hatch.

The machinery will be on display on Tuesday, May 30 from 11am to 3pm. There will be a chance for little ones to sit inside some of the equipment and learn how these massive machines are operated.

David Greedy, dealer principal at Lloyd Ltd Bishop Auckland, said: “We at Lloyd Ltd are really proud to be part of this exciting local event.

“Farming is an essential part of our day-to-day lives and having this opportunity to show the wider public and the next generation what farming today involves is a really great initiative.  We are looking forward to meeting everyone through the day and helping them learn more about how important our rural community is to everyone in the area.”

Alex Nicholson, town centre partnerships and events manager, said: “We’re excited to bring a new event to our calendar and can’t wait to see the town filled with machinery of all shapes and sizes for our young people (and not so young people!) to enjoy!

“A huge thanks to Lloyd Ltd for their support to make this happen – the support of local businesses is so important to helping us put on the variety of events that we do.”
