Contractors to pay for work on Woodland Road

Contractors to pay for work on Woodland Road
06 July 2023

Remedial work to repair work carried out as part of the Woodland Road cycle scheme project is set to start.

After phase one of the cycle scheme was completed last year parts of the road surface were found to not be of the required standard.

After carrying out testing, we have decided that the area between Milbank Road and Greenbank Road needs resurfacing again.

The existing road surface will be planed off and replaced with a new material and the lines will be repainted, additional draining will also be installed. All the work is being carried out at the contractor’s expense.

There will be some minor works required during the day and these will start on Monday 17 July.

The surfacing and lining work will be carried out over six nights starting Monday 31 July and the road between Milbank Road and Greenbank Road will be closed from 7pm to 5am each night.

Residents in the area will be informed and warning signs will be in place to let drivers know about the closures.

A council spokesperson said: “We recognise that the scheme caused inconvenience during the construction phase, but it is necessary for the contractors to return to put right the issues that have been identified. We are trying to minimise disruption by night time working but some works are required ahead of these nightshifts and this has to be during the day.”
