Join us for the big Christmas lights switch-on!

The countdown to the festive season gets underway this weekend, with the switch-on of the Christmas lights.

Join us in the Market Square for the switch-on from 4pm on Sunday 19 November.

There’ll be plenty of fun and music on the main stage, with TFM’s Steve and Karen keeping everyone entertained.

Santa will be making an appearance and carrying out the big switch-on, before the event finishes with a firework celebration.

This year, the event will include an accessible viewing area for wheelchair users. Look out for the signage towards the front of the stage area.

Councillor Steve Harker, leader of the council, said: “The Christmas lights switch-on is always a popular date in the calendar, as everyone starts getting into the festive spirit.

“It’s early days, but I’m keeping everything crossed that the weather will be kind on Sunday afternoon.

“Come and join us to begin the countdown to Christmas 2023.”
