Parks revamped thanks to Darlington Cares volunteers

Parks revamped thanks to Darlington Cares volunteers
28 March 2024

Volunteers who have helped rejuvenate four of the town’s parks have been celebrated at a special Darlington Cares event.

Staff from Darlington Economic Campus, Redde Northgate, Cummins, and EE have been working hard since they pledged more than 3,600 volunteering hours to help the local environment last year.

Working with the friends groups, volunteers have helped make improvements to the Denes, Stanhope Park, Eastbourne Park and Fryers Field.

To celebrate their efforts they were invited to a special event at the Theatre Hullabaloo. As well as looking back at what has been achieved the volunteers showcased their plans to continue their work next year.

Angela Howey, chair of Darlington Cares, said: “The auction was a great success, and I am so grateful to the businesses and volunteers who pledged to help our parks.

“So much has been achieved and I am delighted that we could bring the volunteers together to thank them and celebrate their work so far.”
