Afternoon Lectures at Head of Steam

Railway buffs can find out some of the secrets of how locomotives are restored in the latest of the Afternoon Lectures series at the Head of Steam – Darlington Railway Museum.

Organised by the Friends of Darlington Railway Centre and Museum, the monthly lectures focus on a different topic each session.

October’s event entitled ‘Rescues and Restorations’, is a lecture by Richard Pearson, Workshop and Rail Operations Manager, Shildon and will be held on Thursday 6 October.

Then on Thursday 3 November, the focus will be on ‘The Railways of Sierra Leone’ with Anthony Coulls, Senior Curator, Rail Vehicle Collections National Railway Museum.

The lecture series will draw to a close for the year with a Christmas Prize Quiz and Film Show on Thursday 8 December.
