Roadworks planned for Northgate and Piercebridge

Roadworks planned for Northgate and Piercebridge
21 July 2017

Resurfacing works will take place in at St Cuthbert's Way roundabout, in Northgate, and in the village of Piercebridge next week

Northgate/St Cuthbert’s Way, Darlington

The Northgate/St Cuthbert’s Way roundabout (adjacent to Marks and Spencers) will be closed to traffic overnight for one week, starting on Monday 24 July 2017.

The roundabout will be closed each night between 7pm and 6am.

The works involve deep excavations in the centre of the carriageway, so the road must be closed in the interests of the safety of both the travelling public and workers on site.

The works will be carried out at night to minimise traffic congestion.  A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the works.

Piercebridge

The main road through Piercebridge will be resurfaced and sections of the carriageway reconstructed.

Two way traffic signals will be in place on the road from Monday 24 July to Friday 28 July to allow reconstruction of sections of the carriageway.

From Monday 31 July until Friday 4 August the road will be closed to allow more than 600m of carriageway to be resurfaced.

Traffic cannot be safely accommodated while the resurfacing is taking place and will therefore need to use the signed diversion route via Barton and Darlington A67 during that period.

Residents of the village have been advised of these works and arrangements have been made for access where appropriate.

We apologise for any disruption and delays caused by these essential road maintenance works.
