A large bag of small white balloons
Hazard
The product presents a serious chemical risk as the balloons contain N-nitrosatable compounds in excess of the 1 mg/kg limit. When tested, the product was found to contain 7.62 ± 1.52 mg/kg of N-nitrosatable substances, giving a range of 6.10 - 9.14 mg/kg. This presents a risk to users as N-nitrosatable substances are classified as a carcinogen. The product also does not include the required warning markings for latex balloons.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border and destroyed.
The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).
