Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of choking as during testing, both the zip on the dress and the sequin eyes on the eye mask detached before the minimum prescribed force could be applied. These detached components were found to fit entirely inside of a small parts cylinder and therefore pose a potential choking hazard for young children.
The apron included in the costume presents an entrapment hazard as it features a functional cord that is tied at the back which is not permitted on children's garments. Also, the flexible plastic bag used for packaging the apron had a bag thickness that was measured to be less than the minimum requirement of 0.038 mm, and it therefore poses an asphyxiation hazard.
The pink net material on the dress ignited and burnt with a rate of spread of the flame greater than the specified maximum rate of 30 mm/s, and the dress therefore poses a potential flammability hazard. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (Consumer Protection Act 1987) or the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
