Product description
A black and red steam cleaner with black pipe and power supply plug
Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of fire as it includes a plug and fuse that do not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard. The plug failed to meet the requirements of BS1363-1, as the pins were measured to have a thickness above the maximum permitted 4.05 mm. The dimensions of the sleeved parts of the pins differed from the metal parts of the pins, resulting in a distinct step between the two that may result in damage to the socket.
The fuse does not comply with BS1362 as it has not been fitted with any granular filler, which is required to ensure the safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The endcaps were insecurely pushed on trapping the fuse wire alongside the barrel. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The import has been rejected at the border.
