Plan for Neighbourhoods
In March 2025 Darlington was successful in securing up to £20 million over the next ten years through the Governments Plan for Neighbourhoods programme.
This plan presents a timely opportunity to channel investment into Darlington neighbourhoods in a way that reflects the true needs, aspirations and priorities of local communities. To build stronger, safer, and more connected neighbourhoods through inclusive, transparent and locally-driven engagement processes.
There are three main objectives for the programme:
- Building Thriving Places
- Strengthening Communities
- Empowering People
The Neighbourhood Board
The plan will be led by a board which brings together local residents, businesses, strategic partners and other stakeholders with strong connections to Darlington.
Led by the Board and an independent chair, the vision is to create real, positive changes in the everyday lives of local people within their own communities.
Working with Darlington’s Voluntary and Community Sector to deliver a robust community engagement strategy, the Board will shape a shared vision for the future. This will be set out in a 10-Year Regeneration Plan, supported by a detailed 4-Year Investment Plan.
