Talented young athletes in Darlington, who are aiming for medal success are being helped with free training at the Dolphin Centre and Eastbourne Sports Complex.
As part of the Tees Valley Sports Future Champion programme, aspiring young athletes can access free swimming and sports facilities at their local centre as well as coach and athlete support.
The Future Champions programme is offered by Tees Valley Sport and is part of the London 2012 Legacy Action Plan, which supports talented athletes and players aged between 12 and 18. The young athletes and players must be participating in regional and national squads in selected sports and not receiving any other performance-related funding.
Applications can be made at any time and will be considered four times each year. The closing dates for applications are:
- 30 September
- 31 December
- 31 March
- 30 June
Two options are provided, either or both can be selected:
- Free or subsidised access to selected local sports facilities
- High quality support to enhance the physical development which underpins top class sports performance, delivered by Teesside University
