Get into walking

Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. You can enjoy it alone, with a friend or with your family.

Walking briskly can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier. You do not have to walk for hours. A brisk 10-minute walk daily has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise!

It takes around 20 minutes to walk a mile and burns approx. 100 calories. Why not leave the car at home and walk to the shops or to work.

Darlington has seven parks, three community woodlands, several nature reserves and plenty of other open spaces to explore. Grab your shoes and get outdoors!
