The Procurement Act 2023
From 28 October 2024 there will be new rules that will transform public procurement. The Procurement Act 2023 will come into effect.
This legislation will change the way the public sector buys goods and services. It will help make better use of public resources to deliver better public services and grow the economy.
We want to keep our suppliers informed on;
- what this means to public sector procurement
- how we are preparing for the go-live date later this year.
There's a lot of information out there on the Act, we understand that it can be confusing at times. We want to make the new regulations as simple to understand as possible.
A key aim for the Procurement Act 2023 is to make it easier for suppliers to do business with the public sector. The existing rules will apply for contracts that are already in place and for those started under the current regime. For all new procurements from 28 October 2024, it is important that suppliers understand the change.
The procurement team are working through the training and guidance materials. They will be ready to operate under the new Act and regulations later this year. During the next few months, we will provide updates and let you know when action may be required.
