VE Day Celebrations

The Housing Services were able to support through Community Funding A number of VE day celebrations across Darlington. Tenants enjoyed a wide variety of entertainment and activities including Singers, Flag Waving and Decorating, Afternoon Teas, Music, Games and a good old trip down memory lane where some of tenants shared memories and stories of VE day. It was a great success for all!

Going above and Beyond

A tenant shared how wonderful Lorraine is as a scheme manager and always goes the extra mile. Lorraine helps Ray with carrying his bags if she sees him and always brightens up his day. Ray said that nothing is too much for Lorraine and she goes above and beyond and deserves some recognition. Ray has lived in the Branksome area or town for over 25 years and loves the area. The support he receives from Lorraine allows him to continue living in his own home. Well done Lorraine and thank you for going above and beyond.

Mental Health Awareness Week

The Housing Services shared a number of posts about Mental Health Awareness Week on their social media page. It was about being part of the community and how it supports our mental health and wellbeing. Communities connect, support, and give us a sense of belonging and purpose. From local to global, online to in-person, we all need community.

Estate Inspections

It was great to have Tenants be involved in the Estate Inspection on Firthmoor this month with the Housing Team. We really love to have your input when conducting the inspections and value the feedback you share with the team. We also had Councillors join the Estate Inspection for Skerne Park and Park Place, it was great to share what’s been happening in the areas and work together in partnership to improve the areas.

Community Funding Success

The Housing services were thrilled to be able to support a local dance company in Red Hall. A tenant applied for funding for the Dance School as over 60% of the children who attend are tenants. They requested funding to help with the hire of the community centre where they dance on a weekly basis. Sara, popped down to meet the dancers just before their show and they thanked the Housing Services for the funding.
