Meet Benji and friends!

Meet Benji and friends!
08 September 2021

Residents will be seeing a lot more of Benji Bin and his friends in the coming months on social media, around town and, possibly, even in a street near you!

Videos starring the animated bins have been created to encourage people to put the right rubbish in the right bin.

The videos, which are available on our website and will be used on social media, tell the story of what happens to your bin if you put the wrong rubbish in it and how easy it is to make your bin happy by recycling right.

The more we recycle, the better it is for the environment. The council is also paid for every tonne of recycling it collects - money which can be spent on a range of services.

This means if you sort your recycling correctly you will be helping the planet and boosting council funds which pay for the services we all benefit from.

Andy Keir, cabinet member for local services said: “I am delighted to welcome Benji and his friends to Darlington. This is a new, novel way to get everyone recycling right. The videos are really good fun and I hope they will inspire people of all ages to do the right thing.  I know it can sometimes be confusing but if we all make the effort to put the right things in the right bin it will make a big difference.

“Look out for more from Benji and his friends in the coming months!”
