Work gets underway on Feethams office development
13 February 2019

Work is now underway on an £8.5 million office complex in the town centre.

The site, next to the new Feethams leisure complex, on the site of the old Beaumont street carpark, has been funded by Darlington Borough Council (DBC), the Tees Valley Combined Authority and the European Regional Development fund.

The new five storey-high building is expected to provide accommodation for small and medium businesses in the professional services, digital and creative fields.

The development will include areas of open space that will be open to the public.

The new 3,900 sq m building will attract new office workers who will take advantage of the town centre’s cafes, bars, and shops.

It is expected the building will be complete by the springtime 2020.

Councillor Chris McEwan, Deputy Leader for DBC and DBCs cabinet member for Economy and Regeneration said: “This is fantastic news for Darlington and allows businesses to take advantage of the great location and transport network links Darlington offers.

“Work starting on this development is another huge step forward in making sure Darlington is an attractive and vibrant location for both business and leisure for years to come.”

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “This Grade-A office space will be a huge draw for professional services firms that are currently looking at Leeds or Newcastle for their base.

“In funding this development, we’re helping to create a quality workspace that is just a stone’s throw away from the East Coast Main Line, building on Darlington’s excellent transport links. It will signal to firms across the UK that the Tees Valley is open for business.”

A range of office space is available for rent within the building, anyone interested should contact Andrew Wilkinson at Connect Property North East by telephone 01642 602001 or by email [email protected] or Greg Davison at Cushman & Wakefield by telephone 0191 223 5800 or by email [email protected].

Additionally, the Council also has a dedicated business support team who can provide a wide range of specialist advice, information and guidance on initiatives available to businesses either growing or looking to establish themselves in Darlington.  The team can be contacted on 01325 406305 or by email at [email protected]
