Allergen checks on winter warmers
With the cold weather creeping in, our officers have been taking samples of hot drinks from cafes and coffee shops. The aim of this sampling study was to understand if premises in our town were able to provide allergen free products when asked.
Our officers requested 2 drinks from each premises, 1 with cows milk, and 1 with almond milk.
The York lab confirmed that all samples came back satisfactory, meaning that there had been no cross-contamination while the drinks were being made.
While this is a great result, it’s important to remember that this can only be achieved if the customer informs staff of their dietary requirements.
