There’s a whole host of events throughout Darlington for everyone over the May half term.

‘Acorn Antics’ is a fun outdoor adventure which is held at Head of Steam on Tuesday 28 May between 10.00am-4.00pm. Booking is essential, and price is included in admission and yearly passes.

On Wednesday 29 May, Darlington Libraries is hosting ‘A Whole New World with Aladdin and Jasmine’. This fantastical session of songs and games is held in Crown Street Library at 10.30-11.30am and in Cockerton Library between 1.30-2.30pm. Recommended for children between four and eight years old, and tickets, which are available from Eventbrite, are priced at £5 per child.

Aspiring rocket scientists should check out ‘Rocket Power Workshop’, where they can build a model steam locomotive to take home. The event is held in Head of Steam on Wednesday 29 between 10am-4pm. It is suitable for children over seven and booking is required, though cost is included in admission and yearly passes.

Film fans will have the chance to watch a film screening of 1992’s Aladdin on Thursday 30 May from 10.30am at Crown Street Library. It’s free to watch the film and no booking is required.

For those who love science, ‘Love Science’ is a great opportunity to take part in fun scientific activities. It is held at Head of Steam on Thursday 30 May, and sessions must be booked in advance. Price is included in admission and yearly passes.

Station Scamps and crafts is a great way to keep the little ones busy on Friday 31 May at Head of Steam. The Scamps part of the day runs between 10am-12.30pm, and the crafts run between 1-3pm. These are drop in sessions that are included in admission and yearly passes.

Learning and Skills is hosting Explore Outdoors, an outdoor activity session for children complete with a South Park Trail and creating pictures with sticks, leaves, stones and cones. The session takes place Wednesday 31 May, 10am-noon. Explore Outdoors is in South Park, but meets at the clock tower.

Head down to the Hullabaloo for One Little Word, a creative children’s show that is told with just one word. The show is suitable for children three and above and has two showings on Friday 31 May and Saturday 1 June; these showings are at 11am and 2pm on both days. Tickets must be booked and are priced at £7 per child.

Build and Plant with Dad is an outdoor experience in South Park where kids can build and plan their very own planter with their dads, alongside other activities. The event takes place on Saturday 1 June, 10am-noon in the classroom under the Clock Tower. Booking essential.
