Leader joins tributes to Ron Hogg
17 December 2019

It is with much sadness we learnt of the passing of Ron Hogg, Durham and Darlington’s Police Crime and Victims’ Commissioner.

Ron died on Tuesday (17 December), having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease earlier this year.

Councillor Heather Scott OBE, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: “I was terribly sad to hear the news about Ron. On behalf of Darlington Borough Council, I want to offer my sincere condolences to Ron’s family and friends at this incredibly upsetting time.

“Ron achieved so much throughout his career and most recently in his role as Police, Crime and Victims’ Commissioner for Darlington and Durham.  He made such a difference here in Darlington, particularly with his work around restorative justice and drugs policy and his focus on hate and rural crime.

“Most importantly his open, positive and hardworking approach as PCVC meant he achieved so much during his time in post.  His innovation, ability to get things done and passion for keeping the communities of Darlington and County Durham safe will be sorely missed.”
