Dine out in your Darling town
Diners are being encouraged to dine out in their “Darling town” as a campaign continues to help kick start the town centre economy in Darlington.
Thousands of leaflets are set to drop through the letterboxes of Darlington households as part of the council’s support to local businesses and to help promote the Government-funded “Eat out to Help out”* scheme where diners can save up to £10. More than 50 local restaurants and cafes have signed up to the scheme
The leaflet will list many of the local venues that are taking part in the campaign as well as how the offer works and help remind residents that Darlington has a wide range of places to eat out.
These include national chains such as Nando’s, Pizza Hut and Costa Coffee, and also a great selection of local independent cafes bars and restaurants including award winning pizza places, and Indian restaurants.
A social media campaign on the council’s pages and #LoveDarlo will help drive home the message that Darlington’s diners are open for business. The council is urging all restaurants and cafes taking part to post messages throughout the campaign to remind people they are taking part.
Town centre lamp post banners, bill boards and posters will also help to spread the word that Darlington diners are open for business.
Councillor Alan Marshall, Darlington Borough Councils cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said:
“Dine out campaigns such as the Love Darlo Restaurant Week have proved really popular in the past with thousands of people taking advantage of special offers. We hope that this campaign proves to be equally, if not more popular, than anything we’ve ever done.
“There is a wonderful range of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town and they help to make Darlington the great place it is to shop and visit.
“Now, more than ever, town centre businesses, especially food and drink, need the support of local people if they are going to survive this difficult time. Sadly, it really is a case of “use it or lose it” in some cases.
“As a council we are doing what we can to support local business and we call on residents now to play their part and dine out in Darlington.”
A list of businesses taking part in the Eat out to Help out scheme can be found on the Enjoy Darlington website at www.enjoydarlington.com Any businesses who are taking part but not listed on the site can email [email protected]
Social media users can look out for competitions and updates on the council’s social media pages and through #LoveDarlo.
