Free energy-efficient home improvements on offer
Residents across Darlington can benefit from free energy-efficient improvements worth up to £10,000.
It’s all thanks to the government-led Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery scheme which provides funding for free energy-efficient installations such as air source heat pumps, solar panels and external wall and loft insulation.
We are working with E.ON to deliver the Green Homes Grant scheme to residents across the borough.
Who is eligible?
You could be eligible if your annual household income is less than £30,000 and your property has an energy efficiency rating of D, E, F, or G.
Landlords may also be eligible for a grant of up to £5,000 for improvements but will be required to make a contribution towards the total cost.
What do I do if I think I qualify?
If you think you could be eligible for home improvements visit E.ON’s website at eonenergy.com/green-homes-grant
You can also call E.ON on 0333 202 4820 between 9am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday.
What will happen if I do qualify?
If you qualify, E.ON will survey your home to assess which energy-efficient measures could be installed.
They will then discuss the options with you for a final decision to be reached.
How long is the scheme running for?
The scheme is expected to run until the end of March 2022, but will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Councillor Jonathan Dulston, Darlington Borough Council’s deputy leader, said:
“This is a great opportunity for those who are eligible to save money on their fuel bills while also helping the environment.
“We are aiming to improve 100 properties and the cost is totally free with no strings attached.
“I would urge anyone who thinks they’re eligible to get in touch with E.ON as soon as they can and take-up this fantastic offer. Don’t leave it too late and miss out!”
Nigel Dewbery, director of residential solutions at E.ON, said:
“We’re really pleased to be working with Darlington Borough Council to give eligible residents the opportunity to install a range of energy efficiency measures on their properties.
“This demonstrates E.ON’s commitment to helping improve the energy efficiency of housing across the UK and reducing individual homeowners’ impact on the environment, all helping to support the UK’s net-zero targets.”
