Staff create Christmas fun for children and families

A team which works closely with children and their families has created a Christmas grotto to ensure everyone gets the chance to meet Santa before the big day.

Our children and family time service has transformed their base at Harewood House in Darlington into a Christmas wonderland.

Thanks to generous donations from local supermarkets every child invited to the grotto receives a selection box as well as the chance to say hello to Santa!

The children and family time service works closely with children, young people and their families, who are facing various challenges, to ensure they can have safe, quality time together.

Nick Wallis, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “I was delighted to hear about this magical experience the team have put together. They have worked so hard and it is just another example of how all children’s services staff go above and beyond to help the families they work with. I would like to thank them all as well as all the families who have embraced the spirit of Christmas.”
