Half term fun coming up at Darlington Libraries
04 February 2025

A fun packed week is on the way as Darlington Libraries prepares for the February half term which promises events to keep children of all ages busy.

There will be a host of events at Darlington Library and Cockerton Library throughout the week (24-28 February) including t-shirt printing, crafts, dinosaur discovery, virtual reality, story-based yoga, magic shows and more.

Some will be free drop-in session, while others will incur a charge and need to be booked in advance. Tickets can be booked on Eventbrite via the Darlington Library website from 8am on Monday (10 February).

Hot on the heels of the half term fun is the return of BookFest, a week-long extravaganza of FREE events at Darlington Library, in Crown Street.

BookFest will begin with a special Lego party and a meet and greet with Bluey on Saturday 1 March, followed by exciting daily events including storytelling adventures, book-themed crafting, exclusive school visits and film evenings.

The week will come to a close with an ever popular Make My Day party featuring Tinkerbell and Peter Pan. All tickets for BookFest events are free and will be available to book from 8am on Monday 17 February.

Cllr Libby McCollom, the council's cabinet member for local services, said: “There’s always something going on at Darlington Libraries, whether you want a quiet place to read or study, explore our local history or get creative in The Hive.

“It can sometimes be hard coming up with ideas to keep the children occupied, particularly during school holidays, but our fabulous libraries staff have put together a packed programme of events to keep children of all ages busy.

“So do take a look at what’s on and explore all your libraries have to offer – it’s much more than just books!”
